Velocity Micro’s Note Magix M57 Ultra falls flat!

Another one in the market of laptops. Micro NoteMagix M57 Ultra has a descent system configuration like 17″ WSXGA+ (16800×1050) Wide LCD with 1.3MP Webcam, NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT Graphics with 512MB Memory, v.92 56Kbps Modem, Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11a/b/g Wireless, Four USB 2.0, FireWire, Type II PC Card Slot, 15.6″ x 11.5″ x 1.8″ @ 7.5 lbs., Vista Home Premium, Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 Dual Core Mobile Processor, 2GB PC2-5300 DDR2 Memory, 120GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive, 8x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Burner.

The ports are pretty old. It offers DVI port and a type II PC card slot. In the market where other laptops come with the advance ports like HDMI and even ESATA, this doesn’t feel good. Considering the system configuration and the old look of some parts, the prices should have been pretty low.

But it is hundred of dollars more than the regular laptop in market. Such a high price with low quality would not get enough buyers for this model.

The Graphics ability is the only positive and attractive feature of this system and can be specifically used for gaming purposes. The 17inch LCD screen has a 1680×1050 resolution giving balanced overall look, keeping intact the size of the text to read. The GEforce 8700M GT graphics lets you run any modern game without any hassles.

Storage is also no attraction. It falls way behind the time. It comes with only 120 gb 5400rpm drive, which is too less compared to what we get in the regular market laptops. It would have been worth having 250 GB or above storage capacity.

The conclusion would only be that this laptop is an absolute NO. With its high price, it has nothing better to offer. Velocity Micro’s Note Magix M57 Ultra tried real hard to give a feel of high performance desktop replacer, but the many flaws in it would keep it down in the market.
