The Google engineers are always coming up with some new innovation or the other. The Google’s Go team has reportedly said that they believe programming should be fast, productive and of course fun. And that is the reason they are very excited to open source an experimental language called Go. Go seems to let you move fast as the compiled code runs close to the speed of C with even large binaries compile in just a few seconds.

The team also includes two of UNIX’s creators, so it does have a good pedigree as well. The Go language is very similar to the popular language C in many aspects. Like C, it also has this multicore processors that power most of the computers today, enable the programs to run multiple tasks parallel. And this surely works well with multicore and multi-processor servers of Google that are deployed in innumerable number all around the world.

They focus on speed, of the compiler and the programs both. Most of the programs run about 20 to 30 percent slower than similar ones written in C or C++ but the compiler is amazingly so fast that it can also be termed as an interpreter language. It is available for 32-bit and 64-bit x86 machines and also for ARM processors, which is widely used for the architecture of the mobile devices.

Though the Go already has a solid foundation built by its creators with usual things plus the modern features like garbage collection, it is still labeled as an experimental language. The contest will initiate on 15^th August with its first round being held in Indonesia, four weeks after the commencement of the national league and other mobile related events. Now all the buzz which we have been hearing around the tinsel town about Google desktop operating system has turn out to be true. Yes, you heard it right. Google has just announced its Chrome Operating System, which will be unique in its own way.

Planned to be released in the second half of 2010 Google Chrome OS, a lightweight operating system designed to run on the Chrome web browser on netbooks. Google Chrome OS will be an open-source initially targeting netbooks. “It’s our attempt to re-think what operating systems should be,” Google writes on its blog. They further added, “We wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve”.

It is evident that Google is trying to attract the audience who used to go ga ga over the OS giant, “The Microsoft”, and they are planning it very intelligently by targeting the netbook users as many people are buying netbooks now; however they all are running on Windows XP. Windows XP came into existence around 8 years ago and was built to run on Pentium IIIs and Pentium 4s. Whereas Google Chrome OS is built to run on both x86 architecture chips and ARM chips, the ones which are very popular among the netbooks. Google is also working with multiple OEMs to get the new OS up and running by next year.

Just like the browser we can expect the Chrome OS to be lightweight and fast. On the contrary, just like the browser the OS will also be open-sourced.

Google also mentions, “We have a lot of work to do, and we’re definitely going to need a lot of help from the open source community to accomplish this vision.” Well, this seems like an open competition with Microsoft. According to Google, the software architecture of Google Chrome browser will act as a base which is running inside a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel. If explained in simple terms, the OS will be on the web. They also said that any application developed for Google Chrome OS will be able to work with any standard complaint browser on any OS.

Google intends not only to create a new kind of OS but also trying to eliminate the need of an OS. Well, if they are really intending to do so then why not use Android, as it has already been successfully ported to netbooks. But Google admits that there were few flaws with that, with the major difference being their ability to run on the x86 architecture. (Android cannot run on x86 architecture). Chrome OS will. Google also emphasizes that Chrome OS is all about web and Android was about a lot of other things.

Google Chrome OS is all about web apps and it’s certain that HTML 5 will play a major role. A lot of people are apprehensive about running the web apps when the computer is not connected to the web. But with HTML 5 you will still be able to work in the browser even when you are not connected and upload whenever you get the connectivity.

On the Microsoft end, Windows 7 is still on the waiting list and Windows XP has become 8 years old. Windows Vista was also not a huge hit especially with the netbooks and it was generally considered as a bad OS for netbooks. However, Windows 7 looks promising with the netbook and Microsoft claims that around 96% of the netbooks run on Windows. But the scenario won’t be the same next year.

Jail breaking is a well known concept for all the iPhone users. if this term sounds new to you, then jail breaking is the process of gaining full access to the iPhone OS allowing users to do various modifications such as unofficial third-party apps and skinning and theming. It is also the first step towards unlocking the iPhone to work on any other unauthorized GSM networks.

The new utility, PurpleRa1n works only on iPhone 3GS which is running firmware version 3.0. The developing teams at Apple have become smart and they have seemed to realize the flaw and closed the vulnerability used in the 3.1 firmware. So, if you are interested in jail breaking your iPhone then get your hands off of the beta with the new 3.1 firmware.

The ingredients you need to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS are, Windows OS with a version lower than ver. 7, the latest iTunes installed and opened, obviously, and the PurpleRa1n utility. Mac support is on its way and will be released soon.

Geohot does not take complete guarantee of the tool and says it is still in beta stage and some issues are still under question. However, there are users who confirmed that the utility works just fine for them and they have even installed Cydia. Once the jailbreaking is done you can go ahead with installing the ultrasn0w utility from Cydia to unlock it. The utility works flawlessly with the 3GS as it did for the iPhone 3G.
