The Princess and the Frog movie that takes you to a world of romance and fantasy land may be a blockbuster, but the video game version of the fable falls short of the magic spell. The Princess and the Frog games have disappointed the fans who anticipated adventure of the wonderland but are given an entertaining romp through Tiana’s future as a New Orleans restaurateur.

It is a lighthearted journey through the escapades of Tiana as she faces the challenges and brings about improvements to the interior design of her dinning room. The Princess and the Frog games are mainly associated with the later half of the blockbuster film when Tiana is transformed into a frog; and the game dares you with missions that are created beyond the script of the film. The Princess and the Frog games consist of a series of tasks that are rhythmic in nature. It is said to be released somewhere in the year 2011. Next-gen Nintendo Wii HD has different sort of features it lacked when compared to the other two console giants. There is a Tokyo Game show which will be conducted in the near future where the Xbox lovers are expected to see the new motion controllers. It wouldn’t have a considerable influence on market share distribution, but all the input is done via controller so those who just want to play games might prefer it to everything else, Yoichi Wada, the Square Enix head said.

This time this is no rumor. It is confirmed by the IGN that there will be a new game based off Michael Jackson. A mystery man in himself will soon be seen in a game. A report from MCV confirming the rumor says that the game is being dealt by the singer’s own company, MJJ Productions. A representative from MJJ Productions was quoted as saying “I am sure it will still be released. Michael loved games.”

It is said that the game was under development since several months and the dialogs and speech was recorded by the King of Pop himself. It is slated for a release in the Christmas 2009 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. No other details are known as of now for that the game will feature a number of artist’s hit songs. Does any one of us know how many games are there in the App Store? I think its thousand; in fact it must have crossed that figure as well with more and more arriving every week. Recently we came across the first installment of Yeti Sports iPhone game called Pingu Throw and got a chance to try our hand on it.

It’s a very simple game. Pingu Throw is just like a home run derby with penguins. Yeti becomes the batter and penguin is the ball. The goal is to see how far you can hit the penguin along some stretch of frozen tundra. The controls are just two presses anywhere on the screen, one is to launch the penguin and the other is to make Yeti swing the bat. Once the penguin is hit by the bat and flies in the air, you use the accelerometer to guide the penguin through the air. Based on the path of the penguin you can catch air gusts which keeps you afloat longer and hence a greater score.

There are different levels and different variables are added in different levels, like flocks of birds that you can bounce off in order to stay in the air and in another level the birds carry fish in their claws that you can collect to add to your score.

It’s a 2D game and the graphics are basic and crisp. The game is also very simple and basic and doesn’t require any learning curve because the controls are also so easy. The music is bold and the sound effects are also cute on each menu screen. The penguin will let you know that it is not getting hurt and the Yeki also makes no sound and is a gentle giant. Pingu Throw also has online score boards and a classic mode that has no birds flying around. The best part is that if you feel that you are having a boring round then you can simply shake the iPhone and the entire round will reset.

It comes for $3 which looks pretty pricey for a game like Yeti Sports: Pingu Throw. It is fun for a while but with time it grows stale. The advent of the accelerometer was a great idea and that is the best aspect of the Pingu Throw game. The biggest complaint on the App Store about the Yeti Sports games is that there are online 6 games playable online and all aren’t included. Still, we think that Pingu Throw will have lot more buyers if the price is reduced to $1. Overall, it’s a fun game which does not require any learning, loads fast, and you can play it quickly.

Nintendo WII

Lately, we haven’t heard anything related to President Obama. But it is no secret that President Obama has a passion for technology. Few among his purchases were the Nintendo Wii, which he bought at the beginning of this year for his daughters as a Christmas gift.

On the other hand we have heard that he also want to use that game in order to get better at bowling. Mostly he uses the WII sports for that reason. We do not know and it will be interesting to know whether or not he has started playing that game and will continue when he resumes his work as president.

Well, probably he will claim that he does not while we all know that once anyone puts his hands on this game and starts playing the WII they will continue doing it and will get addicted to it.

This new game in the Lara Croft’s series, picks up from where Tomb Raider: legend left. The game begins with a video of recap of all the events that happened in previous game. which means if you haven’t played the previous game then you would be left scratching your head. This time she is on hunt for fabled Avalon and her long lost mother. Most of the times, the plot tends to look a little silly and over dramatic. However, it seems to hold the interest well.

The puzzles are and look similar to the previous games. The climbing areas also are mostly similar. But there are unique ones as well that makes the game a little new. But there is nothing new to offer in these terms, most of the jumps and climbs were already done in previous version of this game. The Tomb Raider game is supposed to be awesome, leaving the gamer without breath. But this one doesn’t seem to live up to the mark.

The drawbacks of this game are mostly due to failure in capitalizing the hardware. Very small levels leave you gasping for more. Most of the levels become obvious even before you finish them. The acrobatic styles, charm and other swinging, climbing etc are all similar. Deeper into the game, there are a lot of tricky situations that still hold your interest. Especially climbing high levels are still good past time.

The environment in the Game looks pretty good and according to the WII standards. Jungles of Thailand are awesome. In this version, Lara nearly travels the entire world. She swims, goes diving, rides motorcycle through canyon in Mexico, even relaxes in luxurious mansion.

The most disappointing thing about this game is simple puzzles and riddle. A person can easily resolve the puzzle and get going which is quite insulting especially for Tom Raider gamers. The controls are also not so accurate as it was in previous versions. Combat also disappoints you. There are some powerful enemies in the form of jungle cats etc, but they are very few and far from each other. You hardly get to fight them.

Lastly, it can only be concluded that Tomb Raider: Underworld may not be a bad game overall, but it sure is a big disappointment for the fans of this series. The simplification of the entire ame and dumbing down has led to its failure. But those who play Tomb Raider for the first time, they would surely enjoy it.

Consider this scenario. You bought a whole new Sony Playstation3 and you are ready to explore the awesome world of graphics. You switch it on and suddenly everything stops working! Imagine your plight? Now you don’t know whether its something you did or maybe it happened by itself.

Well if you come across such situation with the latest playstation3, stop feeling guilty and start filing complaint to Sony regarding the same. This is not something you did wrong, its actually the old wine in new bottle. Same old problem that xbox faced earlier about the bugs and fixes, now Sony PS3 goes through the same phase.

I know you don’t believe this and think its another rumor. How can a giant like Sony come out with a defective gadget? well its not a whole defective piece, its just the firmware that is giving problems. Firmware 2.40 was released and everybody was so happy to find additional functions like in-game XMB menu access and new addition to online games.

However this happiness did not stay for long when everything plunged into darkness. Many cases reported bricking problem, the malfunctioning of firmware 2.40. This is one of the reasons why Sony quickly removed this firmware from their website. Although not 100% of the users faced this problem, but the amount was considerable and surely pointed towards a serious problem with the firmware.

The good news is that Sony is soon to come out with a fix in their next firmware release, the 2.41 release. So all those who plan to buy PS3, hang on till this firmware is released and positive results are seen. And for all those freaks who don’t believe this review, they may take the risk of shelling out dollars and waiting for a chance to get disappointed. The choice is yours!
