Coming from one of the top models V600, the Motorola V80 can be branded as one of the stylish phones you can look for. Already in the market from February, this model was introduced in Krakow, Poland. Its just designed differently belonging to those expensive high-class handsets. It is eccentrically made so that the cover just smoothly leaps when you touch it, so one surely understands the way it has been designed to cater to those class who prefer style, and luxury.

The Structure

The Motorola V80 is small in size compared to other Motorola phones. It just weighs 108g with dimensions (99 x 45 x 23 mm). One look at Motorola V80 and you know what you get in mind..style, splendour with those dazzling looks. It is embodied in silver black frame coated with thick silver matte color, with a 'green' joystick
with three chrome function keys. On the left side there are two chrome keys- one for volume control and the other for voice-recorder control. A headset connector slot can also be found beside them. On the opposite side beside the display, you can also find the speaker. The upper part of the mobile has a hidden wire eyelet for wrist strap attachment. Then you can also find on the opposite side, a system connector and a charger connector, too.

The two-third of the phone is covered by the shiny black battery cover with the silver motorola logo shining there on it also having a camera lens there just beside the logo.

This egg-shaped phone has the most striking feature and it is its opening mechanism. Just by a simple soft pressing the phone's side, you actually slide it turning it around to 180 degrees to reveal the keypad on the bottom part beneath the flap.

The Display & the Joystick

The Motorola V80's TFT display ranks among the best available phones in the market with its dimensions 30x38 mm, resolution of 176x220 pixels and 65k colors.
The joystick has sharp edges good to control but the edges pricking your palm could look like a bit unpleasant but that is something ignorable. The three function keys are just accessible even if the phone is in locked position.

There are two main basic positions for the display- open and closed. In the locked position, the keys are automatically blocked, to unlock them, press the function key and confirm. You can't make or receive calls in the locked position, you need to unlock it.
The main menu is displayed either in a text form with small icons or with large icons, but animated of course. This menu is custom-friendly allowing one to set it according to his preferences. It can be very well customized with different colors, wallpapers, different sounds while opening the phone and it also supports animation in the standby mode.
The phone also features party lights that activates LED on the display in the rhythm of vibrations.

Phonebook

Not any different from V600, the V80 uses the same phone functions but with 2000 multi-item contacts in the internal memory. You can use ringing profiles and group of callers and assign individual ringtones to individual contacts. YOu can also use MP3 melody as a ringing tone and the phone plays MIDI files with 24 voices. You can make the contact list more colorful by assigning some picture or a photo to every contact. But as any other phone normally, this phone also browses the contacts with the first letter of a contact, so it becomes tedious in searching a particular contact in all the 2000 entries.

Messaging

The V80 model uses upto 450 characters in a single message and its just quite comfortable and swift, to make the user more friendly with the handset. Its like composing messages in any normal phone but here it displays 8 rows colorfully divided. The model uses iTap technology for fast messaging so you would not be left behind with MMS service plus email client.

Organizer

This you can find in the "Others" menu on the main menu list. This includes a list of key-shortcuts for the often used functions, a calender, an alarm clock , a voice recorder, etc.
The calender has an added advantage for those who roam around the world and the specific time can be set for it when the day starts at a particular country. Otherwise the other features in the calender is the same. The phone also erases the expired reminders from the calender.
The Alarm melodies too exist here depending on how you set them. Then there also a voice recorder, but you need to press and keep, to record a voice and that might take a bit tasky job if you are recording a voice for a longer time, as you need to keep holding the key till it is recorded.

Internet connections

The Motorola V80 supports GPRS class 10, as it is not left behind by other phones in using GPRS for internet connections.
The phone is also equipped with wireless bluetooth technology and edges of the handset blink blue when this is in use.
The phone also supports Java with version 2.0 and you can find simple games in the applications area.

Camera

The camera can just be activated from the multi-media menu or by turning around the flap to a perpendicular position. It works in 3 different resolutions with 640 x 480 pixels being the biggest one. It has got that digital zoom but the quality is a bit low compared to the other motorola phones.
The quality of the picture from the Motorola V80 doesnot come that good with blurred pictures.

Inference

The Motorola V80 with its unique and extra-ordinary style and body surely catches one attention with its revolving opening system and provides one with varied functions to perform with its efficiency, durability, high quality display, bluetooth, special light and sound effects with original design and structure. There might be a bit of uneasiness while using the joystick and the voice recorder but then this model is worth buying while ignoring the negligible things.
