Keeping in mind the growing demand of the modern world and the risk we are causing to the environment the power of sun is used in most of the gadgets. The sun is an excellent source of energy especially when it is summer time as it becomes the right time for the people to use the gadgets based on solar energy.

To pace up with the trend the Sharp in collaboration with the Japanese cell phone company AU KDDI declared the release of its new waterproof mobile phone which can be charged using the sun-power. Following the footsteps of LG who have already announced the creation of the solar-powered phones, the Samsung have also come up with its Blue Earth sun-powered touch phone and not to forget the Intivation Company who has already released the ZTE Coral-200 and Commtiva Sola solar-powered phones.

As of now we do not have much information about how the phone will actually work and use the power of the sun but it offers one minute of talk time or two hours of standby time after being under the sun for 10 minutes. So if you are out on a beech then you can sleep for an hour or two to be able to talk for 10 minutes. The phone, which is not named yet, receives up to 80% of its charge from the solar energy and the solar panel is placed on the top of the handset. This might not be a good idea for those who are on the phone for most of the times as if you use this phone you may have to wait for long time in order to talk a little. However, this is an endeavor to produce an environmentally friendly gadget. If I have forgotten to mention it, this phone would be a waterproof phone.

Few of the above mentioned phones have advantages over the talk-time like the LG phone which offers three minutes of talk time after 10 minute sunlight charging. The Sharp has announced the release date of the phone as June 2009 but we do not have any information from the LG concerning the date. So looking at this we can say that the Sharp will be the first water proof solar-powered handset which will be released in the market soon.
