Honda's new wearable robotic Walker is the new innovation from the Automobile giant, which is primarily build to cater the factories and companies where workers complain about leg cramps and lower body problems. This Honda wearable Robotic walker is well planned to support the body weight, diminishes the stress on knees and lower back, just like as if someone is holding up your body weight as you walk. This gadget comes to resolve the special health conditions for people who require to walk and run during work hours for deliveries.

The device is also aimed at giving support to other health conditions like people suffering from arthritis and walking disabilities. It would also be a good companion of the old people. The idea for a normal person might sound weird, but this gadget comes as a relief to many who need it.

The mechanism is pretty simple. You position yourself onto the seat between your legs, put on the shoes and press start button. Now you being walking like just how you do normally. This device has computer, gear, battery and sensors implanted in it. According to Honda Motor co., this device can bring revolution in the world of technology.

Honda plans to test run the device on its own workers in the assembly lines so that they can improve the device before launching it in the market.

  1. So now they are trying to totally handicapped people. We had some exercise by walking and now this one is also added with mechanicial thing.

    1. it does seem to me that this device could help a lot of people that have a hard time walking, but are not totally handicapped, so that is pretty amazing.
    2. not to be crass, but it looks as if it could be a wee bit uncomfortable around the, uh, let us say “pelvic” region for men. perhaps that’s just the way it appears in the photo (tried to enlarge said photo but was unable to do so).
    3. i wonder: could future designs enable a normally functioning ambulater to reach new extremes of running speeds or jumping capabilities?

  3. RV Trader says:

I think this will not impress most of the people. I mean there is no use of such a thing. May be the people who have made it might have some arguments regarding some “important” uses of this. You said it right. This will totally handicap people.

  4. Very Cool says:

You know, I’ve got mixed views relating to this device. On the one hand, it is great that strain can now be taken off of the worker, helping him/her be more productive while preventing injuries due to strain on the body, posture related issues.
On the negative side, devices like these will only encourage corporations to demand more from their employees, effectively turning people into machines. Just a thought.

I don’t like the idea making people look robotic, but if this can help people with disability, why not?

  6. wired says:

This is a weird invention. I wonder if ppl could really use it?

  7. Dog says:

  8. lanos says:

That looks super uncomfortable. There’s just something sinister about the whole design.

  9. Arjun says:

That’s a awesome device. Many people are struggling with leg problems because of standing more hours during their work. Hope they all get relief now from their problems.

  10. emi says:

I think it will helpful for some particular group of people, but it is looking very uncomfortable for use.

honda is developing there technology day by day and producing some new attractive gadgets its good. i this it will be very helpful for the people who can walk long or who does have high pain in there legs. it will be really very supportive gadget for them. but in case of normal people it is not so good as it will make people more lazy by making them just sit on it and owning there work to itself. it will jam joints of our knees. well great post written by you.. and hope you will bring more interesting posts like this in future also.
    regards,
    clare

I don’t like the idea of using this device. First of all this would make me seem disabled, though I’m young and healthy. Besides, I don’t really believe that it’s convenient.. Though, it might help people who in fact work long hours in factories. But! Don’t you think it would be more logical to improve their workplaces rather than chain them into this thing??

  13. Clement says:

They will have to conceptualize the whole thing again. It really looks vague even though it somehow seems to mirror Yoshiyuki Sankai’s HAL (Hybrid Assisted Limb) Robot. For me the best robot from Honda is Asimo.

  14. Scentsy Candles says:

Looks kinda creepy. not sure I would use it even if my place of work offered it. I do think this could be great for the disabled community.

  15. Roberto says:
