Plasma HDTV market has itself become very competitive. More and more companies are coming out with better products in terms of money, quality and performance. Similar in the lines is the 42 inch Flat panel plasma HDTv, from Vizio, which excels in the price category.

One can have it at a low price of just $700. In the home theater products, this one falls back in quality and can only be had as a secondary TV set or bedroom set. The positives about this product is that it showed deep black levels, while the negatives would be its color fidelity. Vizio's VP422 comes in neat high gloss black which is in fashion, contrary to silver which was the last years choice.

The remote control is simple and basic model types. This VP 422 has a resolution of 1024x768 and not 1080p, which is not like other flat plasmas. There are 4 picture modes: standard, movie, game and custom. The Movie mode is the best for reasonable picture quality. This model can be easily concluded as the brightest 42 inch plasma ever in market. There is no picture-in-picture feature and also no power save mode.

Vizio VP422 is low prices, hence the lesser features are obvious. Performance wise it is a little disappointing in terms of picture quality. Sound comes with a set of analog audio outputs out the rear, a third HDMI input and a digital optical audio output; all of which are in the side panel. It has also been tested on the Silicon optics HQv Blu-ray test DVD and it came out pretty neat. It can also be used for PC, but computer geeks would prefer much better display than this. All in all, a good product keeping in view the price tag.
